Welcome!

How wonderful of you to show interest in my PotteryAdventures. Let me take this opportunity to tell you a little about myself and how PotteryAdventures came to life.

In 2012 I ended my business career and moved to the Caribbean, where my husband was employed on an island called Curaçao. As my business career came to an end, I could finally enjoy the perks of the ex-pat life. After a while, my husband’s job brought us to the US, and we settled quickly. Around 2019 my hands got itchy and I started to work with clay. Despite the pandemic, I had my first show in the Spring of 2020, and my new career as an artist was born. I’m forever grateful for the possiblities the US and more specific my community gave me in developing into a fulltime pottery artist.

The last quarter of 2023 the job of my husband brought us to Germany, and I’m very happy I’m able to continue with my passion for clay.

I build all of my pots with my own two hands, using slabs and molds. I use underglaze transfers, silkscreens, stamps, and carving tools to decorate my pots. The decor and design on the pots are often inspired by my many travels. They are all glazed as the finishing touch.

All of my pots are fully functional - you can eat from them, drink from them, or use them as flower vases. All pots are microwave and dishwasher-safe. I like to call my pots Daily Art. Don’t hide yours away in a cabinet, but use it - it’s made for that.

Feel free to reach out and ask me any questions regarding my work. Every now and then I do commissions, and if you need a replacement or identical pot to one you purchased previously, just send me a message with a photo so we can see what’s possible.

Cheers!

Marcelle Verwoerd
